Database Administration is a good job if your focus is solely in databases; most companies require someone that's competent in databases since the world revolves around that. As for expected salary, it just depends upon the company and your location. In the USA, the average salary is roughly $81,710 a year. Again, it depends on your experience, location and company, so you'll want to do that research for your respective area. Almost every programming language can utilize interacting with a database, so if you wanted to expand your knowledge into programming, you can really pick any of them and it most often can utilize SQL also. If you want to stay focused in databases, then I would further hone my knowledge there and explore the various database architectures so that you're well rounded and knowledgable on whatever one a company may be using. My advice? Do a search on the type of job you want. Most often they list exactly what they're expecting you to know. Write down the list of what they're expecting and then go learn that stuff / hone those skills. That's the most realistic approach to figuring out what you need to know for a given job. Best of luck!
