one thing I can say is practice practice and practice ...... start with a simple program(like add, subtract) then slowly slowly move ahead search Google for more resources on the language you selected....

I am learning Java right now and sticking with it until I master all the fundamentals and the advanced aspects of the language. Maybe I am still not in the position to comment to this though since I am not yet an expert in all things about Java but, don't lose heart and keep the motivation running through your veins, then with it, you will master the code you love someday. I suggest watching videos on the internet. Sometimes I even watch "how to make a java game" video without even learning fully the other basic things I need to know to create that particular app.

look first where you're looking for work or a job. this will tell you what you need to know in terms of the skills or language. I recently created a pivot table for jobs in my city the first 30 most recently posted jobs on indeed. it exposed to me that I'm learning the 6th and 7th most in demand skills, but 1 through 5 in my city I was overlooking since all along all I heard was people pumping up number 6 - python. surprisingly #3 was SQL, #2 was Javascript, and # 1 java. I've been finding it difficult to get an entry level position in python for my area, and this analysis helped me discover that it's likely because the demand is lower and those jobs go to more experienced people. if I go where there is more demand, then I can get my opportunity more than likely. if you want to come to a u.s. city, then look at those job markets by sampling the job sites by this type of tabular analysis.
