Why do you think the Python community is so toxic?

Question

Being forced to seek other developers' help in this software environment pretty often, I am faced with the fact that in response to my request for help, I usually get an unfriendly, reluctant answer. Some times developers, who are trying to help me, have time to argue with each other, choosing the best approach to the task at hand. I'm asking myself whether this Python community is an army of snobs, or it's just me, looking for answers in the wrong place. Have you ever encountered an unpleasant atmosphere in your programming community?

Ultimately, it depends what community you're in and where you're asking. Where are you asking these questions at? That could be part of the problem. Check out www.StackOverflow.com sometime (read/follow their guidelines) and you'll be able to find a bunch of experts with expert/professional answers.

Honestly, I have a lot of opinions in regards to Python as a language and Python as a community of people. However, there are many people here that enjoy Python, including yourself, so I'm not going to share that opinion with you all here because it ultimately isn't going to serve anything.

I'll say this much though. Python has been around since the early 90s (almost 30 years) and most of the toxic people in the community that I've met are the newer people getting into Python in the past few years.

But I agree with you, a lot of the python dudes are rude. Maybe that’s why I don’t like python very much. 🤔

The syntax is actually pretty easy in my opinion, I just hate how plain everything is. It’s like staring at a sheet of white paper compared to other languages.

"snobs", ha, that was my impression of the people who praise that show the language was named after, Monty Python. They looove their inside "jokes", and if you ever say it's not your type of humor, "you are stupid and uncultured". Oh, and except Sololearn, everywhere else I looked to learn about python, I had to first hear about "the brilliant Guido van Rossum". I mean, really? I'm not denying he's brilliant, but never fail to mention it in EVERY starting book and article? I only heard about Denis Ritchie when he died, and I was using C for years.
With that said, python IS the easiest language I tried (too bad it's interpreted), and that may attract... a wider spectrum of people. I have never met any low-quality ones, on the contrary, here I met the loveliest of them. Sorry you had other experiences.
I would probably love to hear Jakob's opinions though :)

As for laptops, Jayden, I used to wish for one, I had one, and they are uncomfortable to type on, I would only use a laptop if I had to, but it wouldn't be my choice.
