They both have one thing in common: they both open a file for reading and writing. But w+ has two distinctive characteristics. w+ not only opens a file for read/write, but also ERASES whatever content was in it. AND creates the file if it never existed. Basically making a new file if there isn't a file name that matches whatever you put.
