As for the difficulty of Java, I don't personally find it to be that difficult. It hasn't been any more or less difficult than any other languages that I learn. However, I learned Java in the past couple years, whereas I started with C++ back in the 90s. As such, learning new languages today is insanely easier for me to do than it was when I first started. The more you learn, the easier other stuff becomes to learn; at least that's my experience.
This is what I do. I read through it once even if I don't understand it. Then I practice what I can remember. Then I read through it again, but this time I write down notes of anything that I still don't understand fully. Afterwards I research the stuff on my notes extensively online, and then I practice it to solidify my learning. I repeat this process until I've mastered the language.
