<img src="tree.jpg"> what do i need to put inside the quotation marks. the name of the image or the source/path of the image.

but tree.jpg aint the path...its the name

actually it is path of this image not name it is relative path. so path is look for an image at same folder as this document. if they are at same folder path is just the name no need of writing full path.

Both is possible, it depends on where the image is stored. if it is in the same directory like the html, you don't have to fill in the path but only the filename. if it is in a subfolder you need the path and the filename. in this case you can use a relative vor an absolute path to the filedirectory.
