1. Linux is opensource software: This makes the whole system transparent, no hidden data collection like in android, windows etc. This also allows you to read the whole code of any part, and most important you can easily contribute in making the system and its tools better 2. Most Linux systems come with many developer tools pre-installed: Tools like gcc and the bash shell are very useful sometimes. The package manager also allows you install and update programs and libs automatically and there's no need to reboot 24/7 like in windows 3. Linux is more customizable and clear: Usually everything has its place in the file system, which makes it easier to maintain the system. Also nearly any desktop interface is possible as there are more than 7 common desktop environments, with plenty of themes. And btw. you don't even need a graphical interface actually, the command line would be powerful enough 4. Linux comes with many leading technologies: You can use different package formats like snap, flatpack or appimage to let your program run and update on every linux pc. Epoll allows you to manage huge amounts of network connections with little CPU usage, docker only loads necessary components to run a program in a separated environment and lots of other stuff

i'd say linux is a royal pain but that pain gets me to know/use my pc more efficiently. Of course not for gaming. that was the main difference when i shifted from win to linux: stop playing, start working. btw i do programming more as a hobby than actual work.
