guys I need help: I downloaded XAMMP (windows 7) but it tells me that in order to open file windows needs to know which program I should use. Is there a program I should install to open XAMMP?

No you don't need any software to open xampp. just install xampp and open xampp control panel. Make sure you downloaded the right type xampp

make sure that you don't have Skype or vmware installed due to the fact that it reserves the port and your apache won't start
Apache needs port 80.

Go to start search and type services.cmd then search for World wide Web publishing and disable it. Now open xampp you are good to go✌
