What qualifications should one have for Business Intelligence positions?

I read few pages , but I am still not clear what would make someone eligible for BI positions.

in the articles there are ton of terms with data and business as prefix , analysis as well, which makes it hard to narrow down that what does a BI professional does.

do they come under technical side or managerial / administrative side?

In short -- it is the intelligence, gathering, munging, digesting and processing the data viable or relevant to business.
A typical BI job includes database maintenance, data analysis, making assumptions and building conclusions based on the data.
So transforming data into knowledge and use it for market prevalence.

when does a backend developer ( proficient in any database and querying ) would qualify for such position?

Morpheus Depending on the business environment that would mean proficiency or at least some experience with the corporate standard tools like Excel and Powerpoint, as data has to be processed and visualized to be understood by non-data people 🙇

Of course numerical abilities are a plus, as dealing with numbers is what usually takes the most time -- and there is nothing as valuable as time ⏳
