How to add codes and notes in my Lesson?

I am trying to make a lesson in C# using the lesson factory. But I can only write plain text in my lesson. There are buttons for adding Code and Note to my lesson on the top of my keyboard. But why are they disabled? And how to enable them?

It remains disabled until you select some text. That is sensible :D

Select some text and then press code/any style you wanna add.
