If you're only getting a Mac to program in Swift, then you are paying thousands just to learn a programming language which (potentially) won't be your "main" language. Like Maksym said, don't bother if that's rhe only purpose. Use emulators, or dual-boot your system to a Mac OS.

Anything's good enough for programming, mate. It's just text editing and compiling. A Mac would do the job absolutely fine, like any computer would do. However, if you could save a grand or two and buy a Windows laptop instead and dual boot in to Mac for Swift, would you take that? I know I would. Macs are cool and sleak and all, but they overcharge you so bad for what they offer.

If you don't want to waste money, never buy brand new apple equipment. Seriously, is costs way too much than they are worth. If you just started learning, you better try using an emulator than actually buy stuff.
