I'm pretty new to web developmenr, but I want to learn correctly. Is html5,css3, and java the 1st thing to really focus on?

As you said, HTML, CSS3 and, as Kamil stated, JavaScript (note that there is a very important difference between it and Java) are the foundations of Web Development and pretty much the only languages (per sé) you need to know well to get a job in the field of general Web Front-End Dev.
I personally do more back-end stuff with C# for my work, but we do have dedicated members for the front side of things that control the bulk of the initial HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
