Personally, it's a chat first focus, then pullout discussions.. imagine a blog post starting as a message in chat, swipe right to pin it as a post. edit said post and it can have it's own thread. profiles. and as decentralized as possible, perhaps a SMS based system.

The single most important part of a social network, is privacy. The users are trusting you with their information. If their privacy cannot be guaranteed, they will move on to another social network without a care.

i think what jax meant was if they trust your network with say, their email, phonenumber or perhaps even credit card information that you wont sell it to someone or try to use it illegally

rob foraker (sn0n) I think that could be correct, but just remember, no information on the web can truly be safe. As time goes by, hackers get better and better at what they do. Good luck! 👍

I kind of disagree, Jax... privacy of what? your enrollment details? your images you shared publically? or you mean like.. cookie data? elaborate please. privacy is a bucket that holds issues, not an issue itself..

rob foraker (sn0n) Well, look at Facebook for instanse. So many people are leaving it. Why? Because private information is being leaked.

ok.. that's information being sold and abused.. any social network can have their data scrubbed with bots, etc.. that's another issue.. what if the social network had no "governing body to 'register' with" and it was all you and people you networked with... correct?

if the only people you see is the people you want to see, self moderation is already present. and somethings could and should stay public.. things could always be voted on by those involved and a neutral 3rd party panel... etc.. rewards for going on votes is trust... you can show things you've voted for..
