I think all of their themes end up feeling the same, so I prefer hand crafted sites where possible so clients can offer their customers a distinct/unique experience. However, WordPress is so popular that it would be silly not to become familiar with it. There are plenty of freelancers who make a living off installing WordPress sites. If your question is coming from a different context, feel free to elaborate. :)

Good or Bad is totally depends on your needs. Everything has its own pros and cons. If you want to create a blog, website or any eCommerce store then WordPress is really good to go with. WordPress is available for free, this is a big advantage of WordPress. There are plenty of templates available to design your site. WordPress offers us a many free and paid plugins to extend the features of website.

Please feel free to correct me if I'm out of date with my information, but unless it has changed recently, WordPress is only free with ads. You have to pay for an ad-free site. A good competitor that's gaining traction is Wix.

Wordpress is for people who don't know HTML, CSS and Javascript. When I see a website using Wordpress, I close the website immediately and never come back. Especially if the website does not support HTTPS. But if you have no idea Wordpress is very good to start with. This CMS is on my list of the most insecure software in the 21st century. It doesn't matter if you use Wordpress together with HTTPS. It's still insecure af.
