I am new to Python programming also. There are some free courses online with video lectures and quizzes and such that can help your learning. And there is a free book called "Python for Informatics" to download freely. I am not past the third week yet but learned a little so far. It takes time I suppose,like anything else that is new. Hope I can ask of you when I get stuck with an expression.

I think Python as the first programming language to learn is OK. Compared to others(such as C), its syntax and data type is easy and easy to understand. from my point of view Python is the most beginner friendly language and it is powerful also. with Python you get good exposure to modern day programming. and Python is involve in many areas of development from game, desktop app, etc. and even micro codes for microcontrollers.
