Please help me on how to install the jdk in windows

I have installed jdk in my laptop but I have failed to proceed,especially for verifying if jdk is working or not using cmd,also where this cmd found?help me please?

You probably did not set the Java PATH in the system variables.
Google "set the Java Path" for step by step tutorials.

you might have choosen the wrong platform in the download process
if your laaptop's ram is 4GB or below it you have to choose the platform begin with ×86......
it is not clearly mentioned in the tutorial
