Extra followers because of sololearn, or coincidence?
I’m not sure exactly where to put this. It’s not related to programming, more toward sololearn itself. Once I got past my 1K followers a couple months ago, I noticed many more followers each day. However, most of these followers seem to be new and I assume got me off of the suggested people list. Are people following me just because I have many followers, or because sololearn is having me show up more frequently on it? Also, I notice when I go into the app, and go right back out. I’ll get many followers within about 20 minutes of it, and next to none if I haven’t logged in for a while. Is this a coincidence, or does the app purposefully work this way? I’d appreciate any help you guys can give.

That’s not the case with me. I get a few followers whether I’m off or on. Sometimes I don’t get a single follower even if I’m online. 🙂

⏩ Prometheus ⏪ Jax As qwerty pointed out, non-programming questions are still best posted in your feed instead of Q&A, but there is this thing we commonly grant to SL-related threads, it's called leeway.

yes.. thats a poor algorithm since still botLikes are worthless..
... but get a value through that algorithm. You need them as ramp into topTen.
It is like a manager buys 100000 CDs of his own poor talented song artist.
An idea would be to grant a contingent of possible likes to every SLer per day depending on his status.
Another one:
Find ur gang ti discuss each other codes and dont care for recognition of others.
Since I write my puzzles I have contact to a MathGang in SL which is a bit secret and not recognized through nice coding.
That gang is my personal value.

Jax, I think that when people have like 1K followers, the other people will think that you are really good in coding or in challenges, So they want to follow. And when is more “K” more people will be add in to your followers. Sometimes SoloLearn will show people’s name to get followed. In my opinion, you are a good coder, so people will want to follow you and see your code, just like me.😉

yes.. social media live from that.
And we should be honest...
SL has a lot of social media.
But my idea was to think a bit those things:
What is a follower who just came into SL and has never seen a post or a code from yiu and who will perhaps leave SL a few weeks later.
And what is a like generated by a bot?
What on the other hand is a controvers discussion about coding and posts like we have just now?
I am idealist a bit.....
.... hmmm a bit with some zeros behind.

@all
I forgot about the feed. I would’ve posted in there too, but IOS users still don’t have the ability I’m afraid.

It's true, I've noticed this myself.
Once you reach about 1k followers you are suggested a lot more.
Also, if you are active you are suggested more.

Yeah, as soon as i open the app i get a follower who is new on solearn

It shows, that follower and likes have very little meaning on SL.
Find your fellows and post qualified.
Discuss and code. Thats what counts.

The app suggests other people to follow you after you reach 1k+. Same thing happened to me.
But I don't think this question fits here. General discussions should be posted on your feed.

x!=tina dw, you'll get there soon.
Just go on coding and forget about followers.. Make your train as fancy as possible, people will get onboard.

Ah I get it Hatsy Rei.
So it's just leniency given to SL-related questions

Oma Falk that follower still contribute to your influencer percent and can still get you more followers like this post said, even if he hadn't done anything other than following you (I know 1 is an idealized number, but it applies to the larger scale as well)
A like by a bot, or a self-upvote can still make your post or code more visible and popular than your respectful counterpart, which means more recognition. That's just how SoloLearn algorithm works.
I have seen poorly written, sometimes completely false posts or a plain "Hello", "Good morning!" swallowed whole informative and thoughtful posts just by having more followers and likes. The impact it has on new users is more detrimental, considering that their skills at the time of speaking are not capable of differentiating which one is right and which isn't.
The current problem is that some users seem to like posts from certain individuals only, and doing so without knowing the post is trust-worthy or not. It has been buggering me for a while.

This app may introduce u to some new birds.Like me, I follow those people who were introduced to me by the app when I sign in.

Oma Falk As the system revolves a lot around likes and followers and people are becoming more desperate seeking those, I don’t think they have little meaning. They were important on social media, and they will be here on SL.
I love you code, but regarding this subject, it shouldn’t be taken lightly.

Congrats for 1K followers.
I ll be back in few.

⏩ Prometheus ⏪ Don't really know but I think Yeva means it when she said only programming-related questions. But I don't think they'll mfd this.

Both of them Sololearn is the platform that where people followed you and codes and stuff
