If new programming language are better than old why the older one is used still now

When it would be too long and expensive to rewrite large projects in a new language, new features and bug fixes are coded with the same language as the existing code base

Because new ones are nearly same as olders, for example C developed first, then C++ developed from C. And they have nearly same things.
