First big project

Question

Hey guys!

I'm currently in my 2nd semester studying technical C.S. and want to tackle a larger project. I am a passionate gamer and of course want to build some games in my free time.

Now my problem / question:
I learned C last semester and now this semester it's C++ (and Assembler, but that would be a bit crazy for this). Now I want to code some simple stuff but without displaying it in the console. Can you guys recommend me any libraries or guide me in the right direction towards that?
