From the FAQ:
That depends on what you're trying to achieve. For web development: Start with HTML, and then move on to CSS, JavaScript, JQuery, PHP, and SQL.
For general application programming: Python, C++, and Ruby; then Java, C#, or Swift, based on the platform you're targeting.

Nida Teachers are for the most part good at doing things in a hard way! ;)
But s/he was right somehow -- although it's usually get advised based on the curriculum and personal experience/opinion. Also, teachers usually say that if you learn this one you most certainly can learn that one later on when you get to grip with basics, as well! So, "enduring a little beat up from tough guys like C/C++ makes learning everything else much more easier" , they say!

Nida I did say c++ at first but im thinking as your a beginner c might be better to begin with its up to you as you could swap and choose the more exsperienced you get.

Start with knowing why you need to learn to program, what will you be using it for and what is the right language for you to learn 👍
Then one of us can help you choose the correct language to learn.
