It means that data is mutually related. Every table is connected to the at least one more table and together they form a collection of data. For example, you have a student table, it is connected to the course table and course is held by a teacher, and teacher works at faculty etc.

'Interrelated' suggests more of a 'two-way' relationship between the two things. School and students are interrelated,it's not school if there are no students; and only persons who are in school are called students. Courses are held by teachers, and teachers need to teach a course to be considered teachers. That's a two-way relationship. Maybe you should also check dictionary.com for better explanation. And definitions of data and relational database.
