how and what do I do to host two domain names on a single hosting plan?

I doubt there are any single hosting plans that allow you to have two domains...
A solution would be using sub-domains (e.g. "docs.google.com" and "mail.google.com" both use one domain name (google).
I assume that would incur a greater plan cost than if you were just using one but I'm not an expert in hosting plans and the like so am not certain.
I recommend spending a good amount of time looking through a lot of different plans to find what's best for you (in terms of bandwidth given etc.)
