Am I completely lost?

I have been going through some lessons and yes I know nothing about coding. So when the time comes for me to even attempt to code or practice, what do i need? Like what program will i use to practice coding? I have an iPhone, do i need to download a program? If so which one? ( I know, go ahead and laugh) lol

Start with C, C++ then Java for perfect grip. And if you have a PC you can use visual code editor , sublime , the best one is IntelliJIDEA. do not wait go ahead and start.

I think you need to first decide the purpose and intention behind your learning. That would be the drive to what you're going to learn. A person who knows where he is going is never lost.

Everyone has to take their first step. I see you have completed html+css+javascript. Very good! May I suggest to you, and everyone who gets lost: Begin with something usual. Apply what you have learned to improve it little by little. At last, it can be one of these: https://code.sololearn.com/WS1l4514JQAx/?ref=app

This platform already has a area for you to program. Also in the application store there are thousands of app where you can download a IDE or Editor of your choice and code away. Now if you want to code on your desktop or Mac you might need a few other stacks to download and configure before you type any code in. For example if you want to code Java on your Mac first: 1. Go to the main Oracle website go to the downloads section and download their latest version of Java. 2. Go to the NetBeans site and download their full IDE and editor which contains all the files and libraries you will need to work in Java. 3. Open the editor and set up the configurations to your liking. 4. Code away. That is just a simple example but yes there are so many ways for you to code and have fun doing it. Good luck.

For webcodes you can use any text editor you like, but some have built in help functions for coding. I like to use Sublime Text. Or use an online site like codepen.io for web coding. I use that a lot too. That’s perfect for small projects that you can practice on while doing the course. And ofcourse Visual Studio Code, but that was already mentioned. Good luck!

Thanks to all of you for such good answers. This info will help get me started. I am far from ready to start, but I will have an idea of what I need to get started when I am ready. :)

Jacqueline Evans look at your profile. The very left register (at least on Android) is reserved for your personal coding experience and playground. Best start would be a goal: mine was blinking lights and moving motors with microcontrollers. So I started learning assembly and quickly moved to C. Right now, I'm using Eclipse on my Windows PC to code and compile for various platforms. And I got a lot of stuff moving and blinking in the process, my flat included :)

Dombagahage Gihan Perera. Thanks for your help. Yes I am working on C++ but not for any reason other than trying to go through some of the languages to see if I like them. I really don’t know which language I may choose or which language is what. I just started going through only to get familiar. I no longer have a computer and I am only using a phone right now. But if I get a computer in the future I will take your advice. c++ is not easy for me, lol. I am lost on everything but a few times of going through some training it may start to make sense. lol. Thanks again!

Anthony Perez. Thanks for the info and I was sure that there would be something here I could just open and use. HOWEVER I have not found it. I have an Iphone and maybe thats why? I know I can practice as I learn but I haven’t found the platform you are speaking of. Forgive me if that sounds ridiculous but I must be overlooking it.
