Not sure what you are talking about but you can safely hit right-click -> edit and look at what it's doing.

Whenever I find a virus on my PC I will reinstall windows, but maybe I'm overly cautious.

Love _killer.bat will destroy your pc I know because Love_killer.bat’s is famous for its damage.
Right click on the virus then remove it and then restart.
