Which language do you guys prefer beside web related scripting languages?

Question

I'm newbie learning front end web development and maybe start learning soon back end language(s) as well.
Only question I'm always curious about is that what language should I learn beside web languages? Like developing windows, mac and mobile applications.

depends what for:
java because it just works
c++ when performance and memory management is important
perl or python for scripting
javascript for web.
