Use now() to generate current timestamp in sql
Eg.

INSERT INTO files
(file_id, filename, date_created)
VALUES (10, 'todo.txt', now());

OR
You could generate current time from PHP using date with sql timestamp format:
$now = date('Y-m-d G:i:s');
