We use tags like [SOLVED], [OFF-TOPIC] in Q&A posts. Is there some place where a standard list of these can be found.

Or are the two I mentioned the only main ones used? BTW I have also seen [FIXED] in some posts.

Not that I am aware. Although it might be a nice gesture if people included FIXED or SOLVED to posts, but many times there are multiple ways to solve a problem and the first correct answer may not always the best. So yeah, there's that. If people added them prematurely they might miss out on other perspectives

Usually when you look at a question in the list, you see how many people have already posted there.

When there's ten answers, very likely one will be correct.

If you go in, you immediately see the 'best' answer and a lot of other answers with many upvotes.

So in my opinion, FIXED, SOLVED etc. are redundant (or even harmful, preventing better answers).

Only way I'd agree to them: If they stopped people from answering the same question over and over and over and over and over.

But that'll likely not happen.

Once (if?) moderators get a tool to move [OFF-TOPIC] threads to users' Activity Feeds, we will no longer need that "tag".

I think [SOLVED] is nice so people who are eager to fix things don't keep popping into threads that no longer need their help. Jay makes a good point about waiting for multiple solutions, but I think in most cases (not a statistically verified claim, just my impression), someone just wants to move forward in any way possible from where they were blocked.

If I recall correctly, we didn't use to be able to see the actual tags for Q&A threads from the list view, so these faux-tags were a good way to quickly identify threads that were parsed by a moderator (not an exact science for many reasons). So I can see these being deprecated eventually.

I do think it would be helpful to distinguish [DUPLICATE] threads from [CANONICAL] threads until (if) moderators get a merge thread tool.
