How can I create my own website?

I am an artist and some friend of mine advised me to start a blog or a website to teach painting styles that I use and share the ideas, rather than just sell my paintings online.
And please advise which is better, blog or site?

You can create a website through html,css or other front end web programming languages. For back end use php,asp.etc and buy a domain and host.
For your artistic work I recommend you first start a blog & after getting fair number of views then start a website too.
