Trying to make simple video games

I am trying to select a programming language that would be best to make simple video games. At the most simple 8 bit games but probobly just like a text box game. I am pretty new to codeing only ever using java a little bit with a lot of help, and i know a some html.

Java will probably suit you well for the type of games you want to create. It has built-in methods for loading images and handling keyboard input - so you can get a simple game up and running quite quickly.
