Very Basic Problem, Please Help!!

Question

So I recently was learning stuff about (int)s, and then I made some tests and turns out I only can insert numbers. So now I'm wondering if I can use something very simmilar to (int) but can read letters too. That would be very helpful because I'm making a chatting Program. Thanks.

use 'char' keyword for letters(individual alphabets, characters)
use 'string' for words ans sentences.
use 'bool' for 'True' or 'False'.
use 'float' or 'double' for real numbers
