why not VB?? It sounds like a great fit for new coders - it's essentially a version of BASIC made for GUIs and modern programming, that Microsoft endorses - and if I remember right it compiles down to the same as c# .net (both run on the CLR), it used to be taught in some schools (it might still, but I'm not in school so don't know) as an easy first language. Even the old versions of BASIC was made as a language that was easy to pick up - seems perfect for new programmers and people coding for fun to me
