2D engines for beginners: Stencyl (constructor), RPG-maker, RenPy(whith python). Ink - free whith Unity (html, c#). GameMaker Studio2 (100$, drag&drop), and Only Unity (make 2D too whith packages 2D)

Engines: Unity, Cryengine V (C++), Unreal engine 4 (pc, vr, playstations), PL - C# & C++, C-Sharp, JavaScript (Construct 2), Gamemaker(only 2D, whithout PL)

If using Unity3D, you can programme the game in C# and then export it to your browser.
