I think you have a point here, comments may seem redundant or even pointless to those who already understand, but that's not the case for those who hadn't learned before, it is expected that they may not understand unless there's a brief comment there to explain.

But on second thought, I also think maybe SoloLearn considered also the length of the lesson. Maybe they try to keep it short, not too long to read, to avoid readers from getting bored (just a thought).

Maybe you can ask the development team ([e-mail]) about this doubt? so to get the true reason come directly from the author themselves.

Tnx Mirielle, sure maybe if I'm coding something for my own, then I don't need to comment every line, but it seems that wouldn't be bad, actually it would be much more scientific..., but what I really meant was that codes that are being used in courses have no comments after every line, but there should be because the learning process would be much better, because learners would understand why every line of the code is used the way it is used... :)

The elements of a language are introduced and explained one after another, and the code examples are really short.

Commenting them would be overkill.

If you feel like you need a comment, I find it likely that you've just clicked through the material before and haven't really grasped it.

No amount of commenting will outdo this!

Also there's the danger that you just read the comments, like 'I see, I see', and never even make an effort of your own to understand and remember.

And this doesn't work.

I have studied the Japanese language in college. There were two groups of people:

1.) Those who wrote the roman reading over every Chinese sign, and

2.) those who just learned the damn signs.

To my knowledge, no one from group 1 made it through the exams.

I don't know how is it with others, but I would absolutely not get bored if there is relatively brief but thorough comment after every line of code, because the text that is with every code example, does not explain every line of code. And the comment should be like a reference -- "comment" -> and by moving your cursor over it, the longer explanation will appear... Come on... it should be obvious... That way it would not perturb more advanced coders, but is very necessary for beginners. And/or all the different objects of the code should have a reference... Estonians have a saying: "Repetition is the mother of wisdom."
Yeah, I'll write to the development team, because I'm sure my suggestion makes the learning process much more effective and understandable. :)

Sadly a month has gone by and I haven't gotten any reply from developers. My question is totally on spot, because the course comment sections are full of questions why this and that is used in the code... :)

You have got quite a few opinions, don't be ungrateful.

(Or do you mean you asked Sololearn and they didn't answer? In that case, nevermind.)

And most of the questions in the comments section would be gone if 1.) there weren't badges for them and 2.) people were less lazy and googled stuff themselves.
