Can sublime text be used to write a python script and what can be used to run it on my laptop?

yes, sublime is a text editor you can use. once you done with the code save the file, then open up a terminal/command prompt then run python with your code.

if its feel way too old school, serach for python plugin for sublime. google is at the tip of your finger.
