HTML CSS help

Question

Currently doing a intro page and testing out some things I learned along the way. I'm trying to figure out why the gradient doesn't start from the completely at bottom. It seems to start repeating the gradient at the end. I'm sure its simple and I'm just inexperienced but any help would be appreciated.

to top
