C# can do just about anything. C# has some strengths in Game development and windows apps. C# is also good for mobile and web applications. If you want to learn C# than might as well check out the useful tool Unity.

It's as good a language as any. I've only been learning it the past few months really and it's given me a good understanding on programming as a concept. For me, C# is good for learning OOP and problem solving. I've heard some people call it the Windows version of Java. I believe with .NET Core meaning cross compatibility and tools like Unity, Xamarin and the framework itself will really give it a good backing. Again, don't quote me exactly as I'm a bit new myself but this is just answers that more experienced people have given me.
