What's the difference between SELECT and SHOW in SQL?

SHOW COLUMNS FROM table_name;
OR
DESCRIBE table_name;

Both are pretty much the same but the SHOW let's you use conditions whereas DESCRIBE don't.
These two will give you the table information and not the actual data that is contained inside.

But SELECT let's you show the data inside the table based on the query specified with conditions.
