Any tips for Java GUI?

I will start learning Java GUI soon,so do you have some tips? What is the most important?

have a look at G4P library and GUI builder tool (by Peter Lager) for Processing IDE. you'll be up and running with gui in minutes. I highly suggest it as it is a friendly start to easily get things done before frustration from the complexity of GUI building takes over.
