i prefer Python but this is a personal preference. All coding languages can do stuff with each being great at certain things. should give both a try. Decide a program or function to code with both and do so. Which do you like more? Which was more enjoyable? What did you like about each of them? What did you dislike? Its all personal preference. Some people find Python easier while others find Java easier. Just test it out.
