I started with Python myself. It's easy but powerful and every Linux machine can run at least 2.7. python will teach you the basics but does not give the same abilities as C for example does.

If you're looking for a fairly simple programming language that doesn't take a lot of time to learn, I would suggest Python, since it uses simple syntax and is generally easy for newbies to pick up.

I have a question for you, though. What's the rush? Programming in general is not something that you just learn in a week. It's something you'll need to really dedicate yourself to, so if you're in a hurry, then I doubt you'll actually get anything out of this.
