while clicking on link for 1st time it redirect to an ad but after clicking again the download starts

Sometimes when i click on download button on a website it redirects me to another website but while clicking again on the link it starts downloading. Is something storing my activity in website code or these are cookies. i don't understand cookies as well properly but i read somewhere that session cookies store our data so i coined this term.

```¥$€``` it probably uses a click counter on that button on the current session. meaning that if you close the page (entire browser window), and try again it will prompt you to that page ad again. if you click it more than once after it works, it will keep starting a download

that's how some free websites earn money. based on how many clicks the ads get. the ad owners pay those who have their ads on their site with x% for each click.

that's why you also get ads from free apps on play store. if you pay for the premium version of that app you won't get to see ads anymore. but since it's free version the creators need to earn money somehow, so they use this strategy
