Is that code big? it happens when the code is big, code highlighting works heavily when setting up big codes output on the code editor.

Other possible reason would be keyboard app (mobile devices), try other keyboard app. In the past I had seen some people mentioned Gboard isn't too friendly for coding.

Try search for Hacker's keyboard in store. Idk if that keyboard app is available for iOS, I'm on Android ...
