How did you picked your first language?
I am totally new to this world . I started learning python 4 days ago and I've already made 6 programs. I stated learning it on the basis of YouTube views and don't have any good reason to do so. maybe I will find my reason in your answer.

I just google how to make a game xD
Then found unity and started learning C#.
So it was just a random choice and all is good now ^^
But you might find your language by syntax, or by trying to write some apps. It might be easier to learn some languages like Java, C# from the beginning because they are high-level and pretty easy. Also they have similar syntax to C++ and other languages, so you will be able to switch to another language later.

I chose JavaScript because I want to develop mobile applications. I job shadowed a programmer a few months ago and he was using a program called React Native to code mobile apps for iOS and Android with only JavaScript. I wanted to develop my own applications and had been using Swift, but I liked React Native better from what I had seen. I saved up my money and purchased a MacBook so I could code the apps and now am working on learning JavaScript with two friends so we can start up a coding company and build some apps!
I have some advice for you on choosing a language: First, figure out what you want to do. Make games? Build websites? Create apps? Then, use the invaluable tool of Google to help you find out which programming language is best suited for that purpose and learn that. Good luck to you!

for me, i wanted to make a website so i started learning html, css, js, php and sql. but then i got interested in c and java because i felt the need to make an android app :D so basically it's the "need" that drags you to learn a new language :D

@Nara Have you heard of React Native? From what I understand it's a JavaScript compiler that allows you to create mobile apps for iOS and Android using just JavaScript. If you have already learned some JS from your web development phase, you might want to check it out!

@Elijah no i haven't heard of it but it sounds so cool. actually i knew there are some websites that work only with javascript, but i didn't know there's a special compiler. thanks for informing :D

advice: if you force your self to learn so do not continue otherwise yur wasting yur time :)

If I remember correctly, I picked C++ first, just because it is the first language I ever encountered online (I was on a French tutorials website that doesn't exist anymore, sadly)

always start with c language because it's the father of all languages from where the coding has begun
