Hardware question about ps2

Question

So i dont know if this is still programming related so please let me know if i should delete it.

So my problem is that i want to use a ps2 controller on my windows maschine and i have an adapter for it. But the problem is that everytime i try to use it it is recogbized as an xbox controller. And now im searching for a solution to fix it.
Where do i even start in programming something for this?
