Why would someone use certain list function commands?

If someone wanted to change an item in their list, for example, they wanted to remove an item, then why would they use a command? They could easily just quickly go to the list and physically change it. They might only want to change it because of an error, but the error specifies the line of where the confusion is.

Your suggestion how to modify or remove an item from a list by just doing it in the source code has some limitations. In real live, you will have dynamically created data or you read data from a file. In all this cases, you can only modify data / items by using functions, methods or just by applying a snippet of code.
