How to add autocomplete city and state drop down list in HTML form?

I want to add a city and state drop-down list where the user first chooses the state and according to the state, the list of the cities appears.
Also, suggest a way to use the inputted state and city in PHP code for back-end use maintaining a database.

I could retrieve the state using $_POST['stt'] but how to get the city????
