Why do javascript challenge questions try to trip you up on purpose?

I used this site a lot awhile back, i enjoyed the challenges alot. I noticed that for JS the questions are written to purposely confuse you. Seems more annoying than helpful learning. Is this a 'better' way to learn JS? Or are ppl just posting a lot of Qs like that?
