C calculator

Question

Recently I made a calculator in c language,
I write code in c using switch case

The confusion is that first I take input from user
num1 and secondly operator and at last num2,
So it's generates an error I check my all Syntex mistakes but error is not found at last I use search box from again the error is not found then at last
I just change the place of taking input from user
Then first I just take input operator ,secondly num1 or at third num2(now this is the correct code)
Why?
