java is for andriod develpoment. you can make andriond apps after learning Java and andriod studio..
You can run your code visually on andriod studio.
To learn Java you have to practice every course or lesson.Watch online toturials for latest update and try teach what you have learnt to others. Java is not so intense, i can say.
