U can try to look into Unity or any game frameworks using C#. It's a mature framework which you may get your hands on.

In fact, I believe C# is good for variety of applications, like .NET dynamic web applications and Xamarin mobile apps, it's not limited to game dev.

Answer on my experience is family of c language is fast run time so we need our games less lagey and fast so we use c#or c++. what your choice is dependent on you and it is separate point to discuss.
